Top Ten Most Spectacular Players in Modern AU History
(since 1981)
By Van Plexico
Revised Summer 2003
Players that have brought fans not only to their feet, but to the stadium in the first
place.
1. Bo Jackson
No contest.
2. Dameyune Craig
Such a threat on the field. My favorite AU player ever.
3. Carnell Williams
Stunning talent; injuries ended his first two seasons on the Plains, but when he played, he was unstoppable, and his junior and senior seasons saw him rise to the level of the best backs in AU history, without exception.
4. Brent Fullwood
The "nuclear sub" for Bo, he had '86 all to himself, and sparkled.
5. Rudi Johnson
Unstoppable back who carried Auburn to the SEC Championship Game in his only
season, 2000.
6. Lawyer Tillman
You just knew he would make another spectacular catch at any moment.
7. Tracy Rocker
Greatest star on those great '80s defenses.
8. Lionel James
Elusive and fun to watch.
9. Stephen Davis
Never matched the pre-college hype, but had some great moments.
9. Ronney Daniels
One spectacular season ('99) where he was the whole offense.
10. James Bostic
A wrecking ball in running shoes.
11. Ronnie Brown
Makes this list for his performance in the second half of the 2002 season alone, but was always spectacular alongside Carnell Williams, as well. Will surely rise higher the next time I rank this list.
