301: Racing the Night
* Continuing the B5 and DarkCrusade
tradition of having one episode each season share the same name as the
season's overall title.
* "Racing the Night" is one
of my two favorite episodes of Crusade. This episode of
DarkCrusade, however, has a lot more to do with the unproduced Crusade
script, "To the Ends of the Earth," in which Gideon has the
Excalibur chase a Shadow hybrid ship across the galaxy, using the
leapfrogging technique described in this episode. As always, I
have tried to include as much of the original series as we have to
work with, as well as the unproduced scripts and other peripheral
materials from the Crusade bible, etc.
* G'Kar and Lyta traveled together
after the fifth season of Babylon 5, and one of their adventures,
"Genius Loci," by JMS, was published in Amazing Fantasy
magazine.
* The Ranger Tannier appeared in the
fifth season Babylon 5 episode, "Learning Curve." This
is the same character--but not the same universe, of course.
* Lochley's familiarity with Downbelow
was made clear both in the fifth season of Babylon 5, and also in the
Crusade episode, "The Rules of the Game."
* It was made clear in Peter David's
third Centauri Prime novel that killing the Drakh who originally
hosted a Keeper will also kill the Keeper itself.
* "A couple of young Technomages"
also appeared during the liberation of Centauri Prime in the Centauri
novels of Peter David, so I felt they deserved a mention here, if only
in passing.
